Tagoe Sisters – Gospel Songs nowadays Glorify the Musicians and not God

Legendary Ghanaian Gospel Music duo Tagoe Sisters have said Gospel artistes these days do songs that glorify themselves rather than God.

According to them, when musicians make it to the limelight through the church, they turn their back on the church.

In an interview with Kwaku Manu on the Aggressive Show, the two sisters whose real names are Lydia and Elizabeth stated, “Some Gospel musicians will be sober in the church but once they start enjoying fame they neglect the churches. Most of them will now go for personal managers and the churches have to pay for them to perform in the same church that helped start their careers.”

Touching on how the younger ones are sounding these days, they believe seeking counsel in older musicians could cause change.

“Now the Gospel songs we hear seem to glorify the musicians and not God. We hear Gospel songs and we ask ourselves what impact these songs have on human lives. They need to be up and doing and be very respectful to the elderly,” they said.

The two also attributed their great stage performances to consistent rehearsals.

“There is a saying that practice makes man perfect and the more you practice the perfect you become in what you do. Despite being around for a long time and performing on several stages we always practice to become better,” they stated.
